possible to repair tyre ?

Hi,

I know this has been covered elsewhere but I can't find the thread

I found a nail in one of my tyres and wondered if it can be repaired or if it needs replacing.
It's in one of the grooves so it's the thinner part of the tyre.
Google gives conflicting info.
If it needs replacing approx how much should I be paying for a 235/40/zr18 ?

Paul i had a screw stuck in the rear tyre of my chim
£15 t repair it also was in the groove so it can be fixed

From past threads I think you'll find you can get the tyre repaired but only you can decide if you want to drive a 180 mph car on a repaired tyre

I’ve had a few tyres repaired with no problems – but I only use one tyre place where the owner does the work and knows what he’s doing.

I had one repaired on my Tuscan. That car hit in excess of 170 quite a few times and often cruised for fairly long distances at 130-160. I never had any issues with the repaired tyre.

As far as I know, It can be fixed provided it is not within 2 inches of the sidewall, or has damaged the sidewall.
