Prescott Hillclimb - 22nd July

On Saturday 22nd July, 17 TVRs will be competing at one of the country's premier Speed Hillclimbing venues, Prescott Hill, near Cheltenham;

As well as the TVRs there will be dozens of Porsches, MGs, Ferraris, Bugattis, Morgans, Austin 7s, Ginettas & vintage classics for a total of some 150 cars. Unlike your average F1 meet, the paddock is open and you can stroll round and look at the cars and talk to the competitors (they'll be the ones boiling to death in flame-proof overalls in the roasting sun! (Hah! Last year it pee'd down with rain all day...))
It's a cracking days motorsport in a very pretty part of the country, so any and all spectators/supporters/mickey-takers would be most welcome. Come and say hello ...

.Could hardly be worse. Not unless the end of the world comes along, anyway. It was more like bloody power-boating than hillclimbing - trying to drive a 200-and-mumble BHP RWD car with no traction control or ABS up a narrow strip of slippery tarmac with big trees and Armco either side is not for the faint hearted! And as for the proper (outside) line on Semicircle? Forget it!
Still, hopefully I shan't get lost and take an hour to drive the 2.5 miles from the B&B this time. Sigh.

Try a 300 - and mumble one! thats even bigger to start with!!
Will give this one a miss Zum, been there once (on a two day event) but only for the second day, so we werent allowed to compete. Probably a good thing as it looks rather scary, like most of them do I guess... All the best,

on all the TVR's as we navigate the twists and turns of Orchard, Ettores, Pardon hairpin the Essssess and Semicircle

Oh, yes. Speed hillclimbing is kind of obscure, so ticket touts are not normally a problem ...
The facilities at Prescott are good, by race circuit standards - permanent toilets and restaurant, places to sit (no grandstands, but loads of benches up the hill). You can see large parts of the hill from several places, so the spectating's good. And if you stand on the long left hander just after the start line before Ettores, you're no more than about 6 feet from the cars accelerating flat out off the start line! Bring a brolly if it's wet, 'cos there's no shelter. I couldn't tell you what it costs to get in, 'cos I've never paid to spectate.

One day meetings for practice and event £12.50
There is also the Bugatti Museum (free entry).
The sheep do a good job of keeping the car park trimmed.
