Emergency tyre inflation foam stuff.....

I offered my emergency foam canister to chap in a stranded Murcielago in Oxford services a couple of weeks ago and as he had no cash on him and was going to have to be recovered, I gave him a buisiness card and he agreed to send me a replacement/cash. Disappointingly this has not happened

Anyway, point of the post (other than to have a whinge!) is to ask if it's worth carrying and if so can anyone recommend a particular product?

Its worth carrying if you havent got a spare...
IMO definitely a worst case scenario as i have heard of tire places not fixing some tires that have had the foam used as it bonds itself everywhere and is a pain to clean off the wheel etc...

Still better than being stranded at the side of the road though!

I'm not sure if this would bother me so much. From a safety point-of-view, I'd rather get a new tyre post-puncture rather than use a patched-up one; especially on the Chim...

Yep me too, but it is something people need to be aware of rather than just getting a bit of a shock when the tire goes in for repair and they say...New Tire Mate!

I've recently taken the spare out my Chim (mainly as the roof now fits flush against the fuel tank and gives me back my boot) and replaced it with 2 cans of Holts Tyreweld. Sold in Halfrauds but also in Tescos petrol stations where it is actually cheaper. Not had to use it yet but would rather have this that try to drive a TVR on a space saver.....

If cleaned out thouroughly it is perfectly aceptable to repair ANY tyre after a Tyre Weld type product has been used.

Agreed, but you are dealing with Mr Gumby tyre "mechanic" and if he can't be arsed to clean it then "You need a new-un Guv"!

I think you need to carry a mini compressor (as advised by Seasider at last yeras Griff Growl) as well to aid with inflation because they do fully inflate the tyre......

I used my tin of tyre weld (from the Tiv) on the company car because I couldn't be arsed to change the wheel and it only seemed to partialy inflate the tyre. Thankfully I only had 8 miles to go I was not that comfortable with it

Just had a look, it certainly looks to be the answer. I'm curious what people think about this product.

Thought it was only me this sort of thing happened to, fellow TVR owner, same ending.
Just out of interest, what would you do tomorrow if it happened again?

Hmmm, been pondering that myself.

Have to say I'd probably offer the same again - call it blind faith in human nature but I'd like to think someone would do the same for me in a similar circumstance.

My experience of this stuff is not good (sidewall tear). As a result I stick with my space saver as at least I know I can drive (slowly!) to the nearest tyre place rather than having to wait hours for the breakdown van.

Out of interest, what space saver do you use on the Chim? Does it fit a cerbera? Bit of a followup to a thread i kicked off somewhere else, but would like to know for defo which space saver to buy off fleabay

You may have a problem there, all the Chim's are 4 stud, but the Cerbs are 5 stud. (as far as I know)
