Radio Reception

Yes, I know the best noise comes from up front but what can be done to augment the fairly poor radio reception? I've got a Griff 500, not that bad on FM but it does need a good signal. Can you buy better aerials or boosters? Don't want the expense of DAB.

I think Leven are the people to go to, they i think do a amplifier.

i recently replaced my cd/radio in my griff 500
i got the fitter to add a booster to the aerial which cost £20

not totally 100% reception but an awefull lot better

the booster was approx size of a biro pen.

...and in any event I don't think DAB's worth writing home about. It's OK when you've got reception, but funnily enough I'm mostly travelling when I want to listen and the signal can be fine for miles then you get on the M40 down near civilisation and it'll cut out with "poor reception" just at the punchline!

(I'd listen to it when stationary, but I usually turn the ignition off to stop the speedo from registering 180 plus.....)

Its a good idea to check that its not interference from the car itself before adding active aerials etc.

On mine there were many pieces of aluminium mesh bonded to the fibreglass that 'should' have been earthed. Bonnet, rear arches, cabin etc... Most of the earthing wires or where they should have been bolted to the mesh, were broken.

Reconnected all earthing wires and aerial booster was no longer needed.
