M6 motorway......shorter hop into the Lakes/Forest of Bowland for testing

I was born and bred in Lancaster. It's a historic city (originally Roman, sited at the lowest crossing point of the river Lune) that has had a significant role in most British events (War of the Roses & Civil War, Slave Triangle etc). In more recent times the "traditional" industries have moved on (mills and manufacturing) but Lancaster now has a well respected University and seems to be thriving. Reebok UK also have their HQ there.

Easy access to the Lakes, Trough of Bowland (great roads) and M6 which could be convenient. Plus it's just up the road from Blackpool.

Like any large town/small city in the North, it has its share of unemployment and so on. Student-bashing used to be a popular weekend sport, not sure if that still happens or not.

I enjoy going back but it does seem to lack another major employer other than the Uni.
