Peter Wheeler and TVR

I have heard a few things about Mr Wheeler and TVR from 1 month reading postings here. When did he buy TVR and what did he do before? Did he work for Ford or Rover? There seems to be little on Peter Wheeler in books on TVR? Can someone enlighten me on his success. Jazz

Peter bought TVR from Martin Lilley in 1982. TVR had a big problem with a batch of export 3000S cars in 1979; the cars were ok, it was just that the paperwork that accompanied them was wrong and they were impounded by US customs. The resulting loss of cashflow put TVR in jeopardy and Peter Wheeler, a TVR owner and friend of TVR's Sales Director, bought the company. Peter had a chemical engineering background, so I've heard and reputedly sold his own company for around £70 million.
