Chimera - latest model/new seat problem
Discussion
Anyone else suffering from this problem?
I''ve just taken delivey of a new chimera with new style seats - more comfort, support etc. Only thing is the dealer forgot to mention they don''t adjust far enough forward to reach the peddles unless your 6'' or over!
Consequently my wife even at 5''7" can''t get near them and even I struggle. TVR''s response - "we didn''t bother to check this when we put them in"! So I''m now in the process of all sorts of so called factory fixes, non of which have so far worked. I''ve just returned from the dealer who put in a new peddle box but forget to alter the position of the gas peddle! So we can reach the break and clutch but not the accelerator. peddle. Brilliant and total incompetence!
I''m likely to be suing for a full refund - the pleasure of the drive and owning of the car has gone out of the window.
It seems to me it''s time TVR were really made aware of how utterly crap their customer service and build quality really is. Anyone got a good intro to a gritty motoring journalist?
I should add that my experience of the arrogance of their dealer network beggars belief and would love to make my personal story available in the press to make TVR start to sit up and listen to their customers.
I assume that when both of you test drove a car prior to ordering that the seating position was fine ?
You could always persuade them to do a seat runner swap with an older car (if its possible).
According to Steve Heaths book, you can adjust the pedals yourself:
"The pedal screws into a thread on the actual lever and is locked in place using a second lock nut. By freeing the lock nut, the pedal can be screwed in and out to adjust the height as required. Once the optimum height has been found, the lock nut is tightened up to fix the pedal in place"
I haven't see the new runner arangement but ask the dealer to reposition the runners further forward by drilling new holes in the floor. Obviously if this works then fill in the old holes. The seats are just held in with nuts and one inch washers anyway.

Sounds like, again, with TVR.
The ATTITUDE to Customer Service is the major issue. Not always the problem itself.
I know of at least 2 delears reducing staffing levels.
Anyone have any ideas how new car sales have been this September for TVR.
