enjoyed Sir Jackie Stewart and James May doing a track in the Tuscan rag top. What track was it?

they picked a great track to take the tusc round IMO the bestv tracck they could have brought it to (my fave track) minus silverstone

Yup, Oulton is my favourite track to race at, just behind Cadwell. Snett is a close 3rd too - all top driving circuits.

I thought it was a good piece on Top Gear and May certainly improved his times with Mrs Stewarts tuition. The critisism on the other thread refered to the negative comments made by JC about TVR's future.

The real shame was that that they failed to take the opertunity to put a little gloss on the TVR's performance. It looks great, sounded great, went bloody quick, and it lasted a full day's hard track driving without breaking down. After all that, the only comment on the Tuscan was that James May, and Mrs Stewart "quite liked it".....

The fact that they couldn't show the car on a trailer, or swamped with technicians must have frustrated the life out of JC and the Hamster!

Out of interest how does Stewart's time of 1.58 compare? I've sadly never driven Oulton Pk so I don't know how quick that is. If anyone knows what a good time round Oulton park is in a road car I'd be interested.

I'm still looking for car times but the times taken from the Superbikes websites are as follows:

Oulton Park - vital statistics
Circuit length: 2.692miles
Superbike lap record: 1:37.272 (Michael Rutter)
Supersport lap record: 1:40.529 (Michael Laverty)
125GP lap record: 1:47.221 (Christian Elkin)

Touring cars: 1:28.805

But that's with a racing car, with springs some four times stiffer than a road car, proper racing brakes, gear ratios and suspension set up for that particular circuit, etc.

that was on the short track not the long that the touring car set that time on a race tuscan can do it in 1.41

Do you mean the Island or Fosters?

Looking at some of the past times for things like Caterham races, you're looking at about 1:50 for an very good race time www.msttiming.com/result.asp?table=61505rc1r40&round=round01.gif on the full circuit.

That lady Jackie's time was pretty damn goo 1:58.somthing for a 66 year old bird.

She should try racing - might be quite good at it!
