Griff/Chim Rad fan set up

Just interested to see if any body has changed the rad fan set up on a griff or chim. The standard setup looks a huge restriction on the normal flow of air through the rad. Perhaps if some holes were added to the cowling this could be improved although at the same time would reduce the efficiency of the fans when in operation. Perhaps if the fans were fitted tight to the rad this could be overcome as used on many other applications. Then theres the heat from the cats to think about! Your thoughts and ideas?

Funneling the ram air flow through the fans make a negligeable difference to the cooling at high speed, but makes a huge difference to the effectiveness of the fans at low speed/stationary. Keep it as it is.

I'm not sure about the Grif, however why would you need to modify the existing/standard setup. It's more than capable of keeping the car cool if it's all working properly.
