What TVR?

Hello all, looking to buy a TVR soon and have a few questions;

1. I am torn between a Cerb and a Chim, now I am quite mechanically proficient so will do things like brakes etc myself, so which of the two.
2. I drove a 5000 Chim the other day, was wonderful, would a cerb be much different?
3. If I had a budget of about £12-14K which one?

I would recomend a Chim, for that kind of money you can pick up a well loved one. And you get to take the roof off on nice days. I wanted a Cerb to start with but now would not be without the Chim its more smiles per mile than any other car I have driven and tame enough to use every day.

Definately a Chim - with your budget the chances are any Cerbera you get will come with a big money to do list, & they are not cheap to keep on the road if you buy at the bottom end of the price scale.

Theres plenty of Chims on the market at the moment & you'll get a cracking car for your money - but do keep a few £££'s in your back pocket for running costs.

Chim has a lot of parts derived from elsewhere, obviously the engine, but IIRC Ford brakes etc.

A Cerb would be massively different

Chimaera: You'll get plenty of choice on your budget. While there's plenty enough power from a 4 litre, a 4.5 might be even better. Keep some of your budget back for tackling any issues.

Get yourself along to a local meet and have a chat / see some cars in the flesh. You'll probably come to the conclusion that a tight budget on a Cerbera is not the best idea, but a reasonable choice of Chimaeras and a reasonable mechanical proficiency would be the happier outcome.

I am not too bothered about a tight budget, just that I am able to do a lot of stuff myself, such as brakes, etc......

My Chimaera was rumbly, loud and fast. My Cerbera is in... some other place. Its a fire breathing (literally, with decats) screaming race car with nice seats - its bike fast
Of course, the RV8's are also convertible.
I'd say, test drive; Choose the one you want :- Then buy or save up appropriately. Just know what you're getting.

Either way, you can't lose in terms of driving pleasure.
