TVR's in Australia

Are TVRs sold in Aus? i know i know there English just wanted to know if there was dealers or any TVR service centres. just a thought.

No there not!!
There were a few sold direct to oz in about 98 I think but only very briefly.
There are some about but quite rare, mainly personal imports.

Why dont TVR look at importing there? I lived there for about 10yrs in Brisbane and the Aussies are mad about V8's and big engined sports cars[and the petrol is dirt cheap!!!]Its another area to flog motors isn't it and a good show piece for the Asia market.

TVR would have to do quite alot to the cars to be able to sell them in Oz.
They don't meet saftey standards and various other regulations.
The mind boggles as to why but, some of the cars on the roads over here are leathal their that old.

Not as much as you might think. My T350 required no modifications as a personal import. I have since met the chief Vehicle inspector for Victoria. He passed comment about ADR's. Exhaust and bumpers or lack of. For certain there is the old airbag thing and possibly emmissions but in general no problem. I suspect approval could be achieved without too much trouble on the low volume scheme.

if anyone in Perth is interested we have the British Car Day in Gingin on Sunday 21st May. Should be half a dozen TVRs and 750 other pommie cars.
On the importing side...the personal import option gets around a lot of the ADR issues. My imported Cerbera (back in Jan 2001) only needed additional rear child seat anchorage points/brackets put in when it arrived in VIC. I used the car in WA for 4 years but kept it on VIC plates as I was scared of the police inspection when changing the licencing/registration to WA demanding other silly mods....one person told me i'd never get it registered without door handles and side intrusion bars.

also....fairly recently we've had both a Tuscan and Tamora arrive and be registered without problems.

Hi Nick, do you still have the Cerbera in Perth??
I know Richard Blance has the Tuscan here and he managed to get that registered without too many probs.
But recently they have been cracking down on little things. I know all the chimaeras in WA were issued with a non-compliance plate recently.
