Our Russian brother should take the manufacture of TVR to china, just imagine:

1) Great build quality.
2) Huge supply of manufacturing/engineering staff.
3) Low wage costs.
4) Reliable staff, not the load of winging union run duds they have at the moment - trust me, the English workforce are lazy moaning no goods (I have 50 of them).
5) Great supply chain of quality components.
6) Factory unit probably easy to aquire and low rent.
7) Reliable car - and that would go without saying, they know how to manufacture.

Conclusion
Sales would clearly increase, we would not only have the best looking cars in the world but would also have a RELIABLE car.

So do skilled British workers - but if the management is crap, it doesn't matter.

I have been to China and see the businesses first hand. Not sure I agree entirely with your views of the capability etc....

Hey yeah! lets send everything to China! Lets have no industry at all!! We could have 99% unemployment, no houses, no cars, the pound is worth two fifths of an American cent and those who do have jobs would need a personal loan to buy a loaf of bread.

Lets keep TVR here.

Gazboy - thats fresh coming from a man with a Toyota and a Hyundai! relaible are they?

I have to agree with you on this one. It is common knowledge that we are not capable of manufacturing anything anymore in this country. If things change then all well and good, bring the manufacture back to the uk. As for those calling Shapeshifter selfish, then i think we all have a case to answer on that one, driving energy saping motors and sod the enviroment. I would suggest thats slightly more important than a few northeners losing there jobs. Obviously it would be slightly different if it was south of watford.

Yes, all those huge ships transporting goods from China have water powered engines?
The problem this country has is high prices of housing and transport (oh and public sector pensions, but that's even more of a tangent), if these cost less then workers could live off less money and manufacturing could be more competitive..

Yeah completely agree. In fact no Western country can compete with China because of the huge Social Security costs, restrictive working hours policies and high wages so let's all call it a day and go and work at Tesco's.

Why are GM considering relocating Astra production to Sweden then?

I could not understand that one , i lived in Sweden and it has got to be the most expensive country in the world to employ people

Marki. Its not the fact that Sweden is expensive. The fact is they know how to go about doing things properly and doing it efficiently. Ikea for example. They can mass produce a higher quality product than MFI at half the price. We are an absolute joke and i cant beleive anybody on this forum can have the gaul to stick up for manufacturing in this country. I would however suggest that with the influx of the Eastern Europeans to this country we may once again find the people that are prepared to do these jobs and lay the prima-donnas of the country to rest.

You may all laugh but according to TVR themselves they're talking with NAC to develop a new model . . . and no, it won't be on July's Motorshow.

We have the skills etc in the UK just look at the Nissan plant isn't that the most efficient in Europe or something?
The problem is the cr*p that comes with working here, unions, government medling, human right b0ll0x etc its far easier to ship things abroad.

Next time you go to Ikea take a look at where the stuff is made , its certainly not made in Sweden ....
