Performance Meters

Anyone out there confess to having bought or used on of those accelerometer type data logging performance meters in a TVR? (similar to the gadget occasionally advertised in the top right hand corner of this page ...) I''m in two minds as to whether they''re an excellent way to analyse performance and win arguments in pubs, or whether they''re just for sad tossers and Max Power readers? Sorry, no offence intended; I''m sure it''s an automotive literary masterpiece

A friends got one in his Caterham we did have a play in the Griff with it the other weekend as a comparison and formed the opinion it's a bit of a toy and good for a few hours fun but not really a serious aid. (It is good fun swinging it round you head though to see who can accelerate the quickest)
