Gave Peart Associates a call as they advertise on Pistonheads. They came up with a very competitive quote with a Lloyds name company called HIGHWAY. Has anyone had any dealings with them and if so how do you think they compare to the big boys like Norwich Union etc., as I haven''t heard of them before.

My 2000W Chimaera 500 is insured with Sunninghill too. By far the best cover I found and at the lowest price: Unlimited miles, track day cover included (but with increase in excess when on the track - which is no bad thing as it preserves a degree of restraint), full RAC European cover, no tracker required. I'm 30 with full protected NCB, the Tiv is my second car, and my 29 year old wife is also included as a named driver. £750 - can't really argue with that! Can anyone suggest comparable cover for less?

I was with Highway for 4 years with my modded 350, no compliants on the service when I was with them and I've just had a big claim with them (7K ish). They seemed to deal with it all reasonably quickly (for insurance) taking about 7 weeks to settle it. However my renewal jumped from 450 quid to 1350 quid. I concluded that they didn't want my business and and now with A.Manning for 650 quid with slightly better cover inc track day cover. So there you go I did however have to re-join the TVR club, still at least Sprint is a lot shinier than it was. Matt

Thanks for the info, ended up going with Sunninghill best quote by far and as stated the chance of doing Track days within Europe was an added bonus. Mmmmm Nuerburgring sounds nice...

As most TVR owners have two cars do most people insure both cars through the same company.? Is this the best thing to do.?

I am looking to buy a cerbi and the quotes for insurance start at 1350 up wards. The car will be owned and insured under my fathers name (who is in his 50s) and myself (31) and younger brother (26) as named drivers. Is this a good quote or too high - considering my brothers age? Avi

In my case Direct Line quoted £1,135 with £375 excess. Sunninghill came up with a Royal Sun Alliance policy GBP 875 with a £500 excess, but could have gone for £988 with £250 excess. Didn't mind the higher excess as this only applies to motoring accident, if theft or vandalised only £100 excess. All qoutes with NCB protected. Also maybe minor point but have the family run-about insured with Direct line. My wife managed to prang it and needed new door and respray. Direct line decide the workshop without you having a say and went to collect the car on Saturday only to find the paint finish cloudy an d patchy (thats just on plain old silver metalic). Now would not trust them to find a decent paint shop for my Rosso Pearl finsih.

Avi Read your posting with some friendly concern. Please take this the way it is meant. In short, don't be a muppet. As a lawyer with a lot of insurance experience, please don't put yourself in that position. Do you SERIOUSLY think that the insurance company will blithely pay out when you or your younger brother prang the Cerbie which your 50 year old dad has insured. You will have to PROVE that your Dad was the main driver, which he's not is he? Insuring in your Dad's name is the oldest trick in the book, and IT DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. Beleive me, they will refuse to pay out = YOU BANKRUPTED, and probably with a conviction for no insurance or fraud. Think mate.......

AVI I was under the impression that the quote given is worked out using the least experienced driver to be named on the policy. So you have nothing to gain by trying to insure a car in your fathers name. You might as well bite the bullet as this gets you on the NCB ladder. (I think Top Gear mentioned something along these lines a few weeks back).

I fully agree with Zoomer. However, when getting a quote for yourself on your own, remember to include yourDad as a second driver. The chances are he will have use of another car and this will actually REDUCE your premium by about 10-15%. The same applies if you add on your wife or any other adult deemed to be reponsible (ie parent). Of course you don'thave to tell yourwife she is covered Also remember to try for limited mileage if acceptable for you. It's always cheaper to "buy" more mileage at a later date (£35per 1000 miles ish). Good luck. PS I use Admiral and have found they have been the best for me recently (29 yrs/full NC/SW London - about £900)

Zoomer Thanks for the advice - point taken and will act upon it. I have full NCD on my own vehicle and so does my Brother on his own vehicle so I guess it won't be that bad. I guess I overlooked the points you raised and appreciate the advice. To all the other guys - thanks. Cheers Avi

Avi Ive got my Cerb with sunninghill. I'm 32, four years no claims and it was £900. Privilege have quoted even cheaper (£815) but don't include track days like sunninghill. Hope this helps.

Avi, Just to add my 10p's worth. Try Privilage (part of Direct Line). My Chim 450 is insured with them with myself and wife to drive. I was 24 with full NCB (3 points - TS10) when I bought the car (Mar 01) and pay £1260. Excess has now dropped to 350 (was 600) now that I'm 25 Steve
