See I have graduated from the academy of hot-hatchdom (bye bye 4x4 RS2k)...and pick up my late 97 Chim 4.0 with 15k on Friday which will be my daily drive for some time to come. Have tried to do my homework and I am sure the car is a good-un, but the nerves are jangling bigtime now...cripes, I could have bought a nice sensible new Mondeo for the same money after all! Reassurance needed please...and loads of it!! V8??...jut four TL1000s zip-tied together, innit!?

Our 98 Chim has been fine. Lots of little things have gone wrong but with a good warranty from a helpful dealer (Hawthorns) there hasn't been anything that's stopped us. Its the Mrs daily transport (40 mile round trip) and apart from a dud battery (any car could have that as a problem) its never let us down. This includes a 1500 mile touring holiday in the IOM and Eire this summer. Enjoy. But make sure you keep your warranty up to date, the car serviced and you'll be fine.
