Hi folks, just read the news in La Figaro that Renault are to buy TVR and move production to Sunderland. Xavier
Dear Xavier, Oh dear. Are you sure you read correctly?!? Le Figaro is a good newspaper. PLEASE scan the article as a JPEG and email it to me and to PetrolTed. Rgds, WalterU

Unlikely to be TRW. This is the company that built the Hubble telescope, is building the space station, and is the largest supplier of automotive parts in the world, amongst other things. They could swallow Renault wholesale, out of petty cash.

I'm getting a very bad case of indigestion........ I checked the Le Figaro website, and can't find it on there. This is not good...... if it is true...

Searching around on the web seems to indicated that the paper is "Le Figaro" not "La Figaro". Pretty basic mistake for an alleged french person to make? Searching www.lefigaro.fr for "Renault" reveals nothing about TVR. Looks like we need to see that scan.

same here - I've got indigestion, and I also checked the Le Figaro website to no avail. Xavier, PLEASE PLEASE SCAN THE ARTICLE AND EMAIL IT TO ME AND PETROLTED - at least to PetrolTed. In my view this is terrible news if its true. Rgds, WalterU

perhaps I'm a trusting fool, but in my experience frenchmen are by and large honourable people. I don't think Xavier is trying to hoax us. I am hoping he has made a mistake. Xavier, so few people are reacting to this news because they don't believe you. PLEASE SCAN AND POST THE ARTICLE. If you are right, the news is sensational. Rgds, WalterU

This is nonsense. Surely nobody is called "Xavier Homme"... and has no profile.

In a related story, the Cleethorpes Evening Post reports that Mr and Mrs. Reg Wilson, a retired gas fitter, has bought Porsche, and is moving manufacturing to his garden shed....

I do know an Xavier Bonhomme, but I think he is Belgian - and drives a nice Grantura or Vixen. Came to Le Mans a couple of years ago in a 4x4 Jeep. Crazy Guy! Edited by hooligan on Tuesday 21st August 07:40

Also a search in http://fr.news.yahoo.com/ for Renault, TVR, and variations reveals nothing. Must be a hoax.

Could it be a case that TVR are off-loading their Rover V8 engineering division(TVR Power)in Coventry, seeing that soon all cars will be ajp powered when griff and chimp production stops. Xavier did mention a 4.0l V8

Maybe Rover is buying TVR. Hence the recent pumped-up dullmobiles -- TVR extends the range. Same level of quality control too. -Manek-

Maybe it should be "Renault are to buy a TVR from a chap in Sunderland", or they're planning to build Nissan Speed Six Micras!

It may a problem with the French! They would say phonetically 'Tay Vay Air' for TVR and 'Tay dooblervay Air' for TWR. Lose the doobler and you can see how a rumour could conceivably be born! Ooh la la.

Hi, the company Renault is buying is TVR Engineering of Blackpool, Lancashire, England. Is this the same company as TVR Sportscars? I will scan the article this week. A new car is to be developed with a Nissan 4.0lt V8. Xavier
can you give me the date of the edition?
