hey everyone, howz it goin, sorry it may seem like a really simple question, but howcome insurance companies class sagaris as high risk and might not insure you or offer really dumb prices, whereas no one quibbles about insurance on the tuscan mk2 and give quite cheap quotes, thanx

Don't see why there would be any difference, you would have to ask your broker why.

Is it probably because Jeremy Clarkson labelled it a 'clowns' car?

Seriously though, cant see why??? they've all got similar engines and power and security systems.... interesting....

But then again, the saggy does set you back 50k odd...

Think its because they are over 50k so the insurance is quite high

directline just quoted me £632 for a Saggy - not bad when the quote for my chim450 was £500. (upto 10000 miles, 36yrs old, Cambridge)

There are thresholds in the algorithms they use to calculate insurance. AIUI these are around and about the £10K markers. So a £50s K car will cost a lot more to insure than a £40s K car than £30s K car.

My insurance premium plummetted when the declared second hand value of my car dropped to under £30K. The upside of depreciation I suppose...

SO........ my Sagaris is now valued at 49k! For insurance porposes you know

Seriously, my premium is about the same as last year after shopping around. Direct line quoted £30 more than my tuscan was last year. This despite my extra 3 points and my wife's claim on her car. Excess is £50 higher but on the face of it not bad for a car worth twice as much.
