Tuscan S is to feature in Top Gear next week, just in case anyone interested (BBC2, 23/8/01, 2030-2100). Probably cringe-making if blondie does the commentary. Wonder what sort of ''spin'' she''ll put on it.....! Be nice if they let Tiff have a go, or is that too much to hope for?

Tiff's a Porsche man, and he won't want to praise the Tuscan too much - even if Autocar rate it better than the 911GT2!

Well he's already tested a Tuscan (4.0) and he wanted one for the weekend but the Porsche for everyday use. So I don't think he'll be slagging it off... I hope he canes it on a race course... I think Goodwood would be a good choice cos the roads around Petworth and Chichester are blinding for B and A road burns!

They usually nip up the road from the factory - the nearest hilly/open road bit is the Trough of Bowland - too scarey/bumpy to do quickly in a TVR. I tried it last Friday, in the rain ... The Buttertubs pass was drier on Saturday though :-)

Top Gear BBC2 Thursday 23rd August 8.30pm - 9.00pm Vicki Butler-Henderson tames one of the most exciting British sportscars ever made, the TVR Tuscan S, while Jason Barlow tracks down the best new car bargains on the Internet. Oh dear

Well, what a dissapointment that was. The "feature" was over before it started, and then Tiff (the poor sod) was forced to waffle on about a Proton for what seemed like an eternity. Axe Top Gear NOW, I reckon, it would be a mercy killing!

Sadly lacking in any worthwhile detail. It looked as if they were trying to outdo Swordfish for camera angles and FX - car didn't seem to matter much. Time somebody pressed the eject button for Top Gear. What should replace it though?? Any thoughts?

Oh my god replace it with anything!! I mean really who cars what the car is like in town!! do the shopping in the wifes car! Should have had Tiff and a nice big empty airfield. I'm sure thats not how a Lambo or dancing donkey would have been tested. Mercy killing is indeed now in order for TG

Well that really was a monumental cock up. What did I learn about the car? It's fast, it handles well at 60mph, and it looks good in black. I think we should write to Top Gear and ask for a re review and get Tiff at the wheel! Considering the car is also designed to be thrashed and used for track day, why didn't they thrash it on a track? Top Gear was toilet and a blondie was a disgrace. I turned off after that.

Well obviously Tiff drew the short straw 'cos he had the Vanquish last week! However I must assume TVR would not allow VB-H out on a track with it. Can't think of any other reason for such sh!t coverage, after all (and I never thought I stand up for her) she has raced a few cars 'round the track so whilst not up to Tiff's ability she is not a complete novice. R...

I have to agree with everyone above. It was a Pants article - with a capital P. Ok, any publicity is good for TVR, but it didn't do anything to inspire me to gey one - and I'm a TVR fan. It was actually a waste of 5 mins. I also turned off in discust after the article.

One of the worst ever Top Gear programmes. It sould have been Tiff in the TVR and VBH in the Proton. Jazz cheaper and faster motoring for all! http://www.transnational.co.uk/hpc/index.asp

I thought it was just the intro, and sat there like a tit waiting for the 'feature' - I should have known better. Thanks to keeping my old analogue satellite dish I can get DSF and RTL. Their 'Auto Motor und Sport' would give the Beeb some ideas to work on, but of course they wont, because that sort of program targets drivers..........

FYI, one of the blokes at work who's not a car nut saw Top Gear and was raving about the Tuscan today, so, although I'm sure the prog was fairly cr@p, it wasn't a complete waste. (Commenting on a prog I didn't see ... I should have a career in politics.)

It was very poor, you didnt miss much. Up till recently, I used to defend TG. But not anymore. For one of THE best current UK sports cars, it should have been shown on the limit with Tiff driving.
