Has anyone tried to get a heated windscreen for their TVR? I know the later cars are probably pariahs of ventilation and don''t need such gimmicks to be able to see out..... But as the owner of a (currently off the road) wedge I''d be very intrested if anybody has been down this route before. As if you can''t see where you''re going no car is very fast. Matt

Correct me if I'm wrong, and somebody will, but I think Ford own the rights to the idea of heated front screens. The ponly car I have ever seen one on was a Granada.

The screen in the Griff and Chim came from Ford. It was originally in the Capri... Wonder if they ever had heated screens ?

You can get a heated screen for a Focus or Mondeo (and they're a brilliant innovation), but, sadly, not for a TVR.

The up side of fitting a heated screen is that you can see better , therefore you can drive faster. The downside is that your radar detector won't work through a heated sceen, therefore you'll get caught for going faster.

Valentine-1 still works with a Ford heated screens (though performance is reduced by ~20 yds for Gatsos). A Bel didn't work through the same screen.

I've found a company (Isoclima) who do screens for motorsport / rally cars etc and they said if I can get hold of the inner and outer glass in it's unlaminated state they they can sandwich the heater element in place and laminate it all together. alternatively given a fixture, a drawing and a order for 5 they'd make it from scratch. Haven't asked about the cost of all this yet tho.... So anybody know where I'd get the glass in it's unlaminated state? Or is it back to installing yet more fans and the dash apart (again) Matt

850 quid for a cerbera heated front screen. I'd be interested in the details of the company (Isoclima?) as the best price for producing glass screens I obtained from Triplex was 20K. This is for the coupe roof projects. Clive Reed Zertec Limited info@zertec.co.uk www.zertec.co.uk

Ford did used to own the patent on heated screens and until recently it was only avaliable from Ford and Rolls Royce (under license from Ford) however the patent has now expired and it's open season I know of it currently being used by Caterham, Land Rover, Rolls, Ford, and I bet others can add to the list !!!!! I had one on a Ford Serria Ghia and it was an exelant idea but I wouldn't have on, they sheld the radar signal to the detector. If you compair the front window to the back window the wires are a lot thiner and closer to gether and when it's turnd on this is when it causes the problems, so dose the back window but with the wires wider appart the unit can still work but with less sensitivity and when the front window is turned off depending upon the unit some can still work

I have a dreadful confession to make ... I once drove a Ford Focus. It's windscreen was electrically heated ... you can just see the zig zagging wires ... and it cleared an iced up windscreen (inside and out) very quickly. It was really impressive.
