Griff/Chim steering wheel query

I have a 96 500 Griffith with a standard black spoked steering wheel, but I have seen a dash picture of a TVR (don't know what it was) that had a wheel with a 500 badge that had a silver (ally) finish and I didn't get the immpression it had been hand fettled and polished by the owner but I might be wrong.

Question: Did the 500s have an option of black or silver depending on the interior colour spec?
The reason I ask is that now I have changed all my interior bits to shiny ally I would like to change the wheel to suit.

Someone one here did polish one up a few months back, can't remember who though, maybe they'll own up soon? Looked a decent job too IIRC.

Sorry have no pics handy, but mine was done with Dremmel/wet&dry. Just rub off the paint and you have a lovely shiny one. May want to lacquer afterwards (although mine's been fine without) - just watch you don't nick the leather at the o/s edges. Looks much better than black and ties in with Leven bits nicely

As an aside to this.
Does anyone happen to know the make of the original wheel, and whether its possible to get wheels to fit the original boss on a Griff 500.

I'm toying with the idea of a slightly smaller wheel to give me a bit more leg room

I asked the question a few months ago, I believe the steering column is of Cavalier/Corsa origins so if you get an aftermarket wheel and boss from your favorite aftermarket supplier, jobs a good 'um.

Sadly the PCD of the bolts is slightly different to Sparco, so you cant re-use the boss for Sparco wheels.
