Hey just a thought
Does anybody think that there is still life left in the old Chimera design as a production sportscar?
I guess the demise of the Rover engine added to the end of the production of this fine british sportscar
How about if the factory start to build this car again using a more upto date trouble free Chevy all alloy corvette engine the LS series like Marcos have started to use.
I think that would boost there sales and bring them back as being a top notch sportscar manufacturer.
I was a keen TVR fan up until a few years ago, i have watched there sales drop compared to the sales figures they had during the 90`s
I know there has been trouble with the 6 cylinder engine and that could of affected sales and peoples feelings of this company.
i dont know if this has been discuss already but like i said it was just a thought.

Personally I think the Chim is an old design, and that design of the TVRs have progressed and moved on. The designs they have produced over the last 5 yrs have been stunning, and what has put people off is question over the engines and quality. Some of it founded, however inflated by a lot of pub talk & bad press.

From what I have read things are changing on that front.

Nope I say RIP the Chimp,Griff and Cerb ........and let the stunning designs keep coming

Have to agree with Hoover, I think the Chimera does look quite dated, although it would undoubtdly look better with Tuscan style front lights.

I think this cosmetic 'improvement' makes the Chim the automotive equivalent of Joan Rivers

Agreed, I think the faired in light on the last of the model look much better though.

The Griff has matured into a classic.
The Cerb still punches !
I like some of the newer models eg tuscan.... WHilst I like them I am not sure the T350 or Sagaris will mature into classics though. Stunning but not going to age well IMHO.

(This is purely looks, I know underneath its a very different car)

I think the Chim and Griff are still the classic British sports car in every sense. Front engine, rear wheel drive, convertible, and a big V8. And until someone produces another I will be sticking with the Chim!

So I think TVR should stop pi$$ing about, and get back to doing what they do best!

I think the Chimaera ages really well, it will like the Griff, be a stand alone example of one of the last true British sports cars coupled with the RV8 - it will always gain respect for what it is.

Bloody good looking car unless you fit the Tuscan headlamp conversion which is just plain confused. I agree the later faired lamps is the best look and I wish someone would make them to fit the earlier cars!

On the Tamora side, as an all round package the car is brilliant, fantastic to drive and you can get the roof off. If it didn't have the Speed Six I would own one.

Look more like 'Chav machine' more like, whats with this, these conversions just look so wrong, half arsed and half finished. Maybe, and only maybe if they had a perspex cover over the lights it would look finished, not just like 4 bits of 100mm drain pipes bodged into the front wings. These lights must add a fair bit of drag too, the aerodynamics of these conversions is pretty poor.This I have proved on a Cerbera by covering the lights up (late Cerbera 4 lights) with tape, making the front smooth it was over 5mph quicker down the main stright a recent track day.

So to conclude not only looks bad (IMHO) it makes it slower as well.....rant over

You couldn't be more wrong about the Tamora.

Have you seen any in the flesh?

Have you sat in one or driven one?

Don't judge a car from what you think it looks like in a photo.

My Tamora is the most thoroughbred TVR I've ever owned.

I'm not too keen on the 280i but I respect anyone who ownes one.

i agree, the Cerb still looks quite modern,especially with the headlight conversion which i think suits it better than the Chimeara,plus its still a very very fast car,the Griff still is an amazing design and looks great today it is a classic, the new TVR i could see been a remembered classic is the Tuscan, i remember how many people were amazed by its looks when it was released, the others are all pretty(including the Tamora) but i think the Tuscan will be a future classic

Have seen plenty of tomatoes in the skin.
I personally dont like the front, back or stubbyness.

Really quite strange that probably the most underrated TVR of all is the best car to come out of Blackpool. The Tamora

That would be because it looks like cr@p. It doesnt take too many braincells to work out why it is underrated! A car can be the best bloody thing in the world, but if it looks like sh1te it aint never going to sell. Common sense 101.

I'm working on it!!! just need to find a source of the fairings or a pair to take a mould off. They would work so much better on the racer than those great turbulence inducing recesses they have normally. Thankfully I can get away with a slightly more crude first attempt on a race car!!!

Hi Iain, you can't take a mould from the later fairings the shell if different and they won't fit mate.

I didn't say it was the best looking and I can understand why you may not agree with the satement, but I drive my cars as well as look at them. The facts are the people that make the cars agree with my statement.

I dont think they are underrated. Yes they go well , handle very well ie the first TVR to do so straight from the tin (plastic one) and they sound great. The styling isnt cohesive. Sadly most of the car buying public, me included, are first drawn to a car by its styling.

Goes right back to the old E-type, which apparently lost 5mph off the top speed when the fairings were removed on later models.
