New look Sprint
Discussion
Much more professional and glamourous! Like the larger format, and a good idea to include the adverts/marketplace in one magazine. Although the content isn't much different, it seems better just for the improved layout. Hoping for further developments - I'll contribute an article when I get my new Tamora, and if you like, I will send monthly updates on the pleasures and pitfalls of ownership!!
Got mine yesterday, it has a far superior "look and feel", excellent piccies/layout and some good stories/experiences that have been well written. All round thumbs up IMHO, makes you want to read it, hopefully it will encourage a few more members to put pen to paper and help Tony out a bit.
On another note....
Would the mag ever get controversial........ie publishing members experiences of dealers, both good and bad and maybe the same of the cars themselves, some reviews of new models by seasoned TVR owners instead of jumped up journo's who have maybe
1. Never driven a Tiv before.
2. Got into the thing expecting it to either break down or fall apart!!
at least it may help some of the less clue'd up on the relative merits and pit falls of TVR ownership make an informed decision on which model would suit them best for running costs etc. Then maybe we wouldn't see the growing "I'm never going to buy another TVR" (sometimes very understandable) attitude, especially with some of the newer cars? Or would this effectively sever any hard earned links with the factory/racing teams etc?

Can't praise the TVRCC team enough.
I know, from talking to friends who are involved in running the club, how much work the new Sprint and the website (currently under way) has involved.
It's all too easy for people (especially lazy ****'s like myself who aren't involved in running the TVRCC) to give negative feedback, but a different thing altogether actually getting the job done.
All that's lacking now is some sort of acknowledgement\contribution to Sprint from the factory.........

I think it is a big improvement and very professional looking.
One thing though, seeing as you’re encouraging people to send in pictures of their cars, can you ask them to send in pictures of the interiors of their cars as I’m very interested in the colour combinations and we don’t normally get to see them.
Anyhow thanks for all the hard work.

Well nice to know you look at PistonHeads! Me I'm just a member since '95. So I've seen some changes to Sprint in those years. Yes I like the new glossy appearance although A5 fitted my bookshelves easier!
As regards content there is some excellent stuff right here - I guess it's just a case of convincinge people to turn it into an article.
Keep up the good work - Rich...
Yep, the new format looks excellent; whether it encourages more members to submit articles remains to be seen.
As many of you may know, I did a couple of stints as Editor from 1983 to 1986 and from 1989 to 1991. In those days, there were no Desk Top Publishing systems and nearly all copy was sent in hand-written
One of the problems that Sprint has to face these days, regardless of the format, is the fact that most club members will have read the news and gossip here on Pistonheads some weeks before Sprint is published, so less topical articles need to be found.
Maybe I'll get round to doing that article on where the interior window winders on the Grantura Mk2a come from
quote:Hi, Absolutely great! I think the new format looks so much more professional, and not so 'enthusiast' (in an anoracky way). Definately a good move. If a few more of us members get our butts into gear and write some more articles for it, it'll be even better! Must dig out some good photo's too... :-) Speaking of which, do they have to be printed, or can electronic (JPG's etc.) be accepted, provided they're of a decent enough resolution? --Phips Edited by phips on Wednesday 8th August 01:56
I assume that members have now received the new look August TVRCC Sprint. I would like to hear what the members have to say about the new format, good and bad.
