Read an interesting article today about a leading CRM software company's research that established the statistic above.

A few pieces of advice arising:
1 STAY IN TOUCH - directly and via the media
2 ASK FOR ANOTHER CHANCE - people can easily forget about your company as an option
3 MAKE A PEACE OFFERING - consider the value of special gestures and their capacity for proliferating goodwill

Wise (if blindingly obvious to anyone with an ounce of common sense) words to, ahem, any company contemplating saying b*ll*cks to past customers in the vain hope of finding marque virgins...

God almighty!
How come no one responded to this?

too bloodly obviously true to attract any replies?

I think there were too many sage nods in reply for anyone to bother reaching for the keyboard. Surely it's basic business common sense..... dear oh dear..... I'm sure we could all name companies that adhere to this, but also far too many that ignore it, to their cost. Shocking.

Do I take it from this then that Siebel lost 10% of their customers but suddenly found themselves cash rich?
