Just after some friendly advice. I have been lusting after a Chimera for years now and am now in a position to by one, all be it a 94/95 4ltr. Is there anyone that runs a Chim as an every day car?, if you do how many miles do you do a year and do you use it in all weathers?
I am just weighing up wether to sell my current car ( and have extra cash ) or keep it as a run around incase the TVR does not start on one of my 5.00am shifts at work!!!!.
All suggestions greatly appreciated.
WICKSY
My first TVR was a Chimp that I bought in Oct last year(it was a 4l on an R). I ran this every day as sole transport over the winter, I did 1500 miles abroad in 4 days in April, it took wood and 5 bags of bark chippings and any other gear I chose to throw in it.
All in all it never let me down once, except for a knackered battery that needed replacing when I bought it as it had been a weekend car. I did 9,000 miles in my ownership - all driven quite hard. Oh, I also got it through 3" of snow in the winter!!.
The only reason you may need another car is if you need to pick up BIG stuff. For the two occasions a year I need that I borrow my brothers car. I'm now driving a Tuscan and this will be used the same way, including track days. Have fun
I'm now on my second Chimaera and have used the current one as my everyday car for nearly a year.
The first, a 4litre, I ran for 2 years and 18,000 miles with a eurobox for going to work. However, I always found an excuse to take the TVR instead and found I used the TVR about 3 or 4 days per week.
Obviously a waste of time having a second car so last September I sold both cars and bought a V-reg 500. 17,000 miles later and I don't regret it for a second ( apart from the snow and floods last winter and the cost of the petrol! ). The car has never let me down.
