ACT launches catalysts for TVRs

New units to fit most models

TVR cats

TVR induction specialist ACT has introduced a new set of exhaust catalysts for TVRs. The high performance, 200-cell stainless steel catalysts fit most models.

Retail prices (per pair):

• TVR Cerbera V8: £446
• TVR Cerbera S6 early: £590
• TVR Speed 6 “V” clamp: £634
• TVR Griffith Chimaera main catalyst exchange: £280
• ACT Performance Griffith/Chimaera manifold: £560
• TVR S3c: £446

The items are also available as single units, said ACT, so for example, a Cerbera V8 unit will cost £223.

All prices exclude VAT and delivery.

ACT also said it would be at the NEC Autosport show January 12-15 2006

So has any TVR been Rolling Roaded with these high flow cats?

Why is the Speed six option so expensive? (is it the TVR exhaust design, thus pricey to replicate?).

The speed 6 cats are more expensive as they aren't available to us with pressed cases, they also have "V" clamp flanges which cost more to engineer.
With regard to dyno testing, no we haven't done back to back against original cats as the ones fitted were replacing blocked cats, any power increase would be small.

2sheds, we have a Cerb with a cat on the way out - do your cats make the car any louder at all?? We compete it quite often and would struggle to get in certain events if this was the case!!! (though we have a set of ACT silencers that regularily seem to knock the sound down 10db - 106 to 96, we would rather not use them.)

Although im half tempted to convince dad to go down the route of linked decat pipes and swap the sports exhaust for a standard one.

BCA, can't say we've tested for noise but wouldn't expect much of an increase if any.

Harry, I've been very busy with other projects (TVR & non TVR) but will start posting again, as the cerbera is used as a development test bed it tends to be in pieces most of the time , i can't say too much now but hope to release lots of new stuff v soon.

Not sure if anyone has made you aware (or if its a problem specific to me) but the ACT website causes mi IE to crash whenever I click on the menu links. This is using IE 6.0.2800.1106 on an NT4 SP6 machine. I have other PC's which work fine with your site, but that one barfs. It also formats very oddly, with the menu then the content stacked vertically down the left side of the page.

If you discount the envioronmental effects of mining, processing and disposing of the heavy metals that make up a cat in the first place

me too! but at least it stops me from dreaming about what to buy next...

if you access the pages directly by typing the address is works fine for me but crashes using the side menu..

Of course. I bet scientists have argued a lot already and somehow come to the conclusion that it is better to have cats on the car despite the pollution involved in making them. Why would all cars have them else?

It's something in the CSS file (stylesscripts/act25.css) - probably a pseudo style, which IE has trouble with. The fact that page elements get displayed in the wrong place is a pretty strong pointer to the style sheet being the culprit.

Surely it couldn't be anything to do with money... or politicians being seen to be doing something...

Tell me about it! We currently have -5 ºC here! A bit of global warming would be nice
I fear though that the environment does not negotiate with it's habitants.
The good thing with winter here though is that now I get plenty of time for fettling with my S and for reading books about TVR

Edited to say: Since this is a thread about the cats from ACT and we probably should stick to the subject, one more reason to buy them is because they are nice and shiny! My old ones look a bit sad.
