I had a Chim for 3 years and I have also done some serious road trips in 911's including 3000 miles across the US in a 911 Turbo and soon to do the South of France and back in a Carera 2.
I think i'd always have the TVR over the Porker (even the Turbo)just because it speaks to you, but I got really uncomfortable in the Chim for anything more than 3 hours. I was comfortably doing 10 hour stints in the Turbo day in day out, but not as much fun.

I had a Guards Red 911 of a similar era years ago. Absolute shed of a car - although I loved it dearly. I finally went down the route of having a modern car a few years ago and its great...but I still miss the old thing. One car I'd dearly love to have back.
Interestingly I found that getting into our Chimaera for the first time had the same "shivers down the spine" effect as my old 911 had. Cars with a soul.
For me a modern Porsche is more of a slow burn love affair than the passionate initial embrace of the old TVR/Porsche. Takes a lot longer to perceive its "soul" as it were.
I'm probably talking bollox but I think I might have to go out to garage to say good morning to the beasties.
Sold my Chimaera after 3 years of reasonably trouble free motoring back in June, and replaced it with a 53 2.7 Boxster. I have to say totally different cars but both feel a bit special, and I must admit although I normally loved being out in the TVR, it could in some situations be a pain in the arse, especially in slow traffic on hot days.
The other main issue that amazed me was for a 4 year old car how much the chassis could corrode, even on a car like mine which was always kept garaged, and rarely got wet. even with the use of a a car ramp, having to scrap off loose powder coat and rust and treating on a regular basis was a pain.
