French Road Trip

Hi all, I have posted recently and got some very useful advice on my Road Trip to St Maxine in South of France. I would love to know if anyone has stayed overnight anywhere nice in the Reims / Champagne region? Recommendations warmly received for a TVRCC member....

Have stayed at L'assiette Champenoise in Reims a few times nice hotel & resteraunt, although can be a bit expensive.There Web site is here

Stayed in this area many times myself.

It's an expensive, but excellent area to visit.

In Reims itself I've tried Chateau les Crayeres (www.gerardboyer.com) and although I had the best meals I've ever had in my life would never go back due to the way we were treated in the hotel side.

Outside Reims the two star's IMHO are a pair of Chateau to the west of Reims, first Chateau de fere (www.ila-chateau.com/fere/) and it's very good. The hotel side is pretty good and the restaurant really good and deserving better marks in the guides.

Best of the bunch is still (again IMHO) is Chateau de Courcelles (www.chateau-de-courcelles.fr), stayed there a couple of months ago and it was just wonderful.

If you are visiting the local establishements both Reims and Epernay have excellent guided tours from all the major houses (be careful on Sunday's though) of the underground works and of course you can stock up on the local produce.
