Headlight alignment

Is there an easy way to know whether my headlight alignment will pass an MOT? I want to adjust my passenger headlight (which means removing the wheel and cutting lots of mastic away to remove a panel etc.). I can put the wheel back on and leave the cover off for a few days while I get it right. I can shine the lights against a wall etc. But how do I know whether I've got the alignment correct as it is sometimes hard to work out where the beam centre and edge are.

You'll have to identify the centre of the beam pattern. Use a large piece of card against a wall and a felt tip pen, or just guesswork if it's good enough. If you set the height the same as the driver's side (assuming that's OK), and make sure it points directly ahead of the car, not to one side or the other, you shouldn't go far wrong.
