If someone bought a car from the dealer, had (for example) a wiper motor replaced under warranty at 3 months, and then 6 months later (less than a year after purchase) the wiper motor died, should the individual be entitled to a replacement wiper motor.
Dealers tend to provide a "3 months only" warranty on wear and tear items, but surely by law any brand new parts supplied would come with 12 months backup by law, even if the customer didnt pay for them, and they were supplied free, under warranty?

Nomally when parts are replaced under warranty, the new parts are only warranteed for the remainder of the original warranty.
but equally assumed laws might prevent companies from giving less than a years warranty on a brand new item, which shouldnt be faulty after a few months 
There may be some issue of fitness for purpose if a part fails substantially sooner than would be reasonably expected. But for parts replaced under warranty I guess you would not be the purchaser so I'm not sure where you would stand on this. In any case I suspect it might be rather difficult to pursue a claim of that sort against a possible defense that the part had been improperly fitted or had been abused subsequently.

Having had household goods replaced in the past within the warranty period, the replacement was only given warranty until the orignal period would have expired, which is a crock of shite really, why not a stuatory 12 months guarantee?
