Dash Veneer

I'm posting this under the TVR 'general' heading as it's not car specfic, i'd like to know what adhesive to use when applying new veneer? Any thoughts very welcome.

Talk to those wonderful chaps at London Carriage Co. (advertise on here), they'll go through it with you.

Editted for typo and to add- Why not let them do the dash for you, then all you have to do is install it? They did the heater panel on our Griff, puts the original dash to shame.

What base material are you sticking the veneer too?

Metal, wood?

Sorry, not gonna be much help then. Would suggest some sort of contact adhesive.

Really think about whether you need the hassle or not. Whilst in principle is sounds a relatively easy job, will you get the same finish as a professional?

Make sure the adhesive is waterproof and heat resistant. Otherwise the damn stuff will drop off again...

Also clean off all the rust on the metal panel (even the back!) and give it a coat of paint - the rust can force the veneer off.

Have a go! If you don't, you'll never know if you can do it, and it beats sitting on your backside being poor and bored...

remember that the adhesive needs to remain flexible , not set hard like araldite or the differing heat expansion rates of wood and metal will crack it again...
