I am writing in the hope that anyone reading this message will assist us in trying to stop what has, or is becoming even more of a nightmare than it was before! There are a number of members that have applied to their credit card companies for refunds on insurance premiums following the crash of the Independent. Some of you have been successful! HOWEVER rather than taking it back from Independent the credit card companies are taking it back from A Manning UK Limited as we obviously arranged the transaction. What that means is where we have told you we have not paid the Independent and are transferring the monies straight to the Cornhill -- this is(under these circumstances) no longer the case. We are now being flooded with enquiry forms from the credit card companies for information about each request. The situation is that in MOST cases you have received the services from insurers and A Manning UK Limited have negotiated with the Cornhill to carry out a new policy on a pro rata basis. Therefore the situation is now very complicated and I need your help please. If you have successfully obtained a refund please e-mail me on ann_manning@amanninguk.com and advise me: Full Name, First line of your address and how much you have obtained.PLEASE DO NOT TELEPHONE OR FAX ON THIS ISSUE. If you are contemplating requesting a refund from your credit card please DONT but refer to us first. As I understand you have a legal responsibility to pay for the time you were covered by the Independent and obviously pay the Cornhill for the remaining period. I have no doubt that this situation is going to get worse and I do need your co-operation as obviously if monies are withdrawn from us I cannot pay the Cornhill. Ann Manning

Ann Manning, Since my last post I have :- 1)Tried ringing but you have been unavailable. 2) I have faxed you and have proof of receipt ok. 3) I have written to you (sent recorded delivery) and yet still no acknoledgement of any description let alone a hint of any answers to the questions posed re: my case. I have been *very* patient throughout this whole shambles, but can't help feeling that the service (or lack of) from Manning's has been far from satisfactory. I have done all that you have asked, I have forwarded my address & phone / fax /email to you - do I really have to take the time out to make a personal visit to get a response let alone some answers ???? If I've not heard from you by the end of this week 5/8/2001 I'll take that as an open invite to make a personal visit to resolve this. Yours anxiously awaiting your response in fact any response !!!! Paul Kent.
