All ready for Street Weekend 2024
Discussion
2023 was the first year for this event. 83 cars entered and raced at Santa Pod and Melbourne over 3 days and covering over 400 miles on the road with specified checkpoints along the way. 209 cars are listed to compete this year. This was the best event I've entered my Chimaera in and after a big effort to getting a fresh engine sorted I am ready to do it all again in just over a week's time. Wish me luck. Just completing is the target but to get sub 30 seconds total for the 2 quarter miles at the pod and the eighth at Melbourne would be fantastic.

Can't read the Dyno screen. What did she make?
ETA: Good to see you're still at it Derek
ETA2: Just looked at the ET thread. You're in the 10s! Well done mate.
We had some fuel issues on the day so held boost to 7 psi and it made 356 at the wheels with a safe advance. So let’s guess about 420 at the fly.ETA: Good to see you're still at it Derek

I’ve just got the car together again and want some reliability more than anything else for this weekend at least
What a fantastic weekend that was!
We had some wet weather through at the pod on the Friday and the decision was made to call the day off for racing.
I was the last car to get a run in before the rain stopped play and ran 11.9 at 121
Then over 190 racers were packing and getting on the road to head for the first checkpoint at Skegness Pier. Traffic through Boston on a Friday afternoon was terrible and i had one eye on the temperature gauge as it settled at about 110 degrees.
Next stop was a viewpoint cafe at the Humber Bridge before heading to Melbourne for a well earned beer or 3 before a night in a tent. Not something i enjoy now i have my van but that was left at the pod.
Saturday i got in the pairing lanes early and decided to just do 1 run which i made a complete mess of on a cold unprepped track running 9.0 at 92 over the eighth.
Back on the road to 'The Motorist' which was a rather impressive place to visit as was the second checkpoint 'Great Northern Classics' in Derby. I can recommend both these places are worth a visit for any petrol head.
Back on the road to return to the pod late afternoon and the comfort of my van.
Sunday was much better weather wise at the pod and i did 3 runs 11.8, 11.7 then 11.5 on the last race of the day all at 123mph.
Considering i was only running 7psi of boost i was happy with how the car performed.
The icing on the cake for me was to discover i came 50th place and just and so guarenteed entry to compete again in 2025

Finally an update
I scoured the internet for videos of the event, not quite Sick Week or Sick Summer (US) but it looks like it would have a very similar atmosphere and no doubt a lot of fun to do.
What, in general is the limitation currently preventing you from consistent 10s?
HP or traction or perhaps reliability when both are present?

That 10.6 i did was quite a few years ago using 2 stages of nitrous and on a rather sticky prepped York track.
A few years ago i decided to turn to the turbo route and have yet to get the power levels comparable to that instant hit of the nitrous. Also ive had some issues with stock bottom ends as forged stuff for Rovers isnt cheap so i am creeping up on tunes etc. Other excuses include old Mickey Thompsons passed their best.
Last year i ran 11.1 at 125 on around 10 psi boost and this year 11.5 at 123 on 7 psi.
I have a new Bosch 200 pump and going to increase the fuel pressure to the Jenvey 440cc injectors and see if i can keep the duty cycle at 90% max but up the boost some. Next move would be to go bigger injectors.
This winter i also plan toi upgrade the T5 to a TKX gearbox with a RST clutch and to try 2 step and flat shifting.
If it all works out as i hope then mid to low 10's should be regular.
To add... i just bought a brand new pair of Mickeys that will be getting used at Melbourne this Saturday.

Two-step given you're using a turbo would make a huge difference to the 60ft I would have thought. That 10.6 i did was quite a few years ago using 2 stages of nitrous and on a rather sticky prepped York track.

(Found that a little confusing at first; two-step with a manual but I see now it can be done. Two-step but not as we know it Jim )
TVRs are fun to drive and certainly built for straight line acceleration but, not actual drag racing. It does present its challenges.
ETA
Have you not considered getting some video content for a youtube channel.
Might take a while but getting monetised could help with the parts bills.

Well, it's time to dust off that gopro and hand your phone / camera to someone in the lanes to record your runs https://youtube.com/@dbv8nos?si=DH7XhpTywp2T0jj5
