Any thoughts of the condition of my 80 thousand mile outriggers please

It’s not wise to lift the car at this point.
Use the outrigger corner plates to place your Jack and use a rag or bit of rubber to protect chassis.
That’s very good from what we can see.
The problem is most rot occurs above on top of the tubes at the front and rear corners directly behind the wheels and you can’t easily asses that from photos or even by eye.

Someone’s obviously re painted those but they do look in good general condition.

That's just about the worst place you could have lifted the car from.

Given that the outrigger didn't buckle, at least that part of the tube can't be in terrible condition, but you really want to avoid doing that in future. The best place to lift the car is under the central chassis rails with suitable protection where the jack contacts the chassis.

As mentioned below, the part of the outrigger we can see is not where corrosion tends to be worst. The top of the corner plates are usually the worst areas.

Thanks but I've owned this car for 20 years and I used this car as my daily drive for 4 years when I first bought it racking up 40 thousand miles I then only use it in the dry for the last 16 years .I painted those outriggers 13 years ago after rubbing them down so I know exactly how strong they are so I jack them up there on purpose

I must be missing something here - you say you know how strong they are but you’re asking the forum what condition they’re in?

I'm doing it tongue in cheek because I've had this car up for sale and people assume that because it's done the mileage and no new outriggers that it needs a them .I beg to differ. There's to many people on here who know nothing about tvr chassis

Let’s hope whoever’s looking to buy your car doesn’t find these posts or your previous postings…not a great advert.

You're entirely wrong, and the misplaced confidence you display here makes me wonder what else you've done to it. No doubt the next owner will find out in due course.

Just when I thought I'd seen it all, this comes along. Speechless, though I will say that I would take any advice given by Peter (Green V8S) as he knows his onions where these cars are concerned. Good to see him back on forums.

Unless I'm not seeing things correctly, did Stevie Wonder brush paint the outriggers going by the huge overspill on the undertray (?) behind. Your jack puck teeth will also be eating through the paint nicely every time you jack like that.

You really did not paint the outriggers, unless you lifted the body.
You can't have lifted the body and made such an apauling job of painting, what on earth is all that paint on the fiberglass. I would run a mile if I looked under your car as a purchaser.
