I am new to the Forum and am sure this topic is listed somewhere, but not sure how to find it so here goes.
I purchased a 97 Chim 400, LHD, in Switzerland and my friend and I went over to pick it up and spend 10 days having fun. The car is truly in exceptional condition and a dream to drive compared to my old 390SE, close to the same lovely sound!!
All during our time in Europe, and the first several months in the US, the doors worked perfectly.
Recently, both sides failed and I had to contact friends in the UK to find out how to get in! My hand is a bit large and don't have a broom handle easily at hand! Do have an 8-year-old grandson who is perfect for the job, but seldom around!
Is there anything that someone has come up with that makes these work more reliably or another workaround? Can you spray silicone somewhere, or adjust something to help the operation somehow? The actual mechanism appears to be buried in the area in front of the rear wheels, but have no idea as to how to access?
Love the car, just need to shim up the driver's seat about an inch, changed to a Tuscan wheel, which makes entry and exit much earlier, and I will be a happy camper!
As always, have appreciated the help from other owners, which makes TVR ownership so great!!
Best,
Chuck

There is a flap just behind the seats that give you access to the lock mechanism.
I sometimes have to give a little spray of WD40
There is also a pull lever in the boot that opens the drivers door.
You need access to the boot for this.
I have the mod that gives you access to the boot without opening the doors.
I think the kit is still obtainable from Modwise
It saves having to turn the ignition on to gain entry to the boot.
