Battery brain?
Discussion
Hi, let down twice in two weeks, both times by cabin lights. Now taken all associated bulbs and relays out.
Battery brain seems like a good idea. There are options. Switched one, remote control. If you lock the car and it cuts off the battery, I assume the remote control is the only choice?
Experiences appreciated.
Thx

I’ve had a couple of BBs on my old TVRs, they are great. I had the remote control operated ones. Press the fob, forget about it, car still starts 5 months later. Mine were fitted principally because until recently we had an integral garage, and I felt safer sleeping below a car with an isolated battery.
I've only just fitted a BB so limited experience so far, but I can say that if my car was locked and the BB was then activated, my Meta alarm detects the cut in power and sounds the alarm siren, which has it's own built in battery. So I have to manually turn the siren off before cutting the power via BB. Not a big issue for me. Reason I got the BB was to protect the AGM batteries from draining (eg lights left on) which can damage them as well as non-start. The BB detects low voltage and shuts off power automatically
When the BB remote is pressed to restore power you just carry on from how the car was left, and reset the clock!

Ive had my battery brain fitted this last year and works perfectly with battery drain!
Im rarely away from the car (as I like to look at it over a cold pint at a country pub) but I very rarely actually lock the car. I take the stereo facia out - but Id rather some scumbag get in to find they cant start it - than knife the roof or force entry!

Hi, question. My Griffith is year 2000, so wiring diagram similar to the early Griff one in the bible but not the same. I have 2 large brown wires, passing through the 100a fuse, connected to the battery terminal. As well as the very large cable, which goes to the starter.
The installation of the battery brain is done, but I am not happy with the robustness of the connection to the battery. I think I might put the 2 brown wires via the brain, and leave the starter direct to the battery. Will isolate the most likely drains, but leave the big ampere connection. Via a more robust connection.
Thoughts?

I've been using BB's since 2003, always with the remote fob.
First was in my first Chimaera as I used to leave the car in an airport in Germany for 3 or 4 weeks at a time.
Flat battery every time and the Car Park Services people started to refuse to give me a jump start.
Never a problem after the BB was fitted.
Same with my first and second Tuscan and for the same reason.
Mine isolates the alarm so alarm not active until the Brain is deactivated.
I've never seen that as problem.
I've never had a problem with the BB itself.
