Tuscan Race Car any for sale
Discussion
I am potentialy looking to return to TVR ownership in the form of a road going Tuscan race car so :
1. Does anyone know of any for sale at the moment between say £0 - £25,000
2. Has anyone owned one or currently owns one views required
I am basically looking at it as a toy for the weekend and track days
any advice welcome
Thanks

There are several things to consider about these. Make sure it has been converted properly and would pass an MOT if you took it to be tested. Some have been bodged and may have not been finished correctly. I took mine to Steve at Insane racing and he pointed out several things within a few minutes. If you find one get it checked by someone such as Steve who knows the racers. Make sure it has been correctly registered as what it is, should be on an F-plate I believe, and has not used another TVRs identity, scrapped wedges are a favourite.
If you want to use it for any sort of distance drives you will want a bigger fuel tank, one from a Cerb can be used, as the racing tank is quite small. Either way check the fuel gauge also works, as with a racing tank there probably won't have been a gauge originally and hence no sender. Similarly I don't think there was a hand brake fitted originally.
If you want to carry anything you'll want one that has had the boot panel cut out and a boot fabricated inside. This is very handy, but does take some of the strength away from the body structure. Earlier cars have thicker bodies than later ones.
Engines are down to preference and cost, mine had a 4.6 RV8 and was plenty quick enough for the road, it would out accelerate my Cerb without any problems.
Gearing is another thing, mine was very low geared and would max-out at about 125mph, but this can be changed, as can all the other issues.
These are just a few points and your best bet is to speak to someone, such as Steve, who knows these cars inside out. One last thing, when you come to sell it can be a problem, as the market is very small and with the Tuscans not racing now there may be more on the road/avaiable at a later date, so don't spend a fortune. However, having said all this they are fantastic, you'll not see another on the road, and it's unlikely you'll turn up to any meets or shows and find another there.
If you want to ask anything else feel free to mail me via my profile.
Cheers, Al.

Fair point, but as you say in nowhere near the numbers there used to be. All I was trying to say was there will be more cars available for conversion, so naturally due to supply and demand the cost may well go down. Having had to reduce my price in order to sell the car, I know how specialised they are and they can cost alot more than I paid for mine to get on the road.
