Just got back from France in my Tuscan this morning!

Oh wow! Thats all i can say.... This was the first time I had taken my Tuscan over to France, it was amazing! The car comes into its element, it can be driven how it was intended to be driven!
We went down to Bordeoux for one night and back again, the roads down past Le Mans are fantastic especially the amazingly straight N138!
The new Motorway being built around Le Mans will be great for next years race, some sections are now open, its a very fast road!
Just thought I would let everyone know!

Great place isnt it - We have just taken 2 Chimaera's and 1 caterham for a 4 day blat to Normandy for a tour of the beaches etc and we had a great time and what great roads.
Came as a shock to get back on the M20 and M25 last night though.
The French love sports cars and the hotel we stayed at moved cars so that we could get our pride and joys under cover and then reserved us spaces for the next night as well - fantastic.

Just curious how much of the motorway parallel to the N138 is open at the moment? I'm about to take my Griffith down the N138 on Friday. Normally I'd not be too concerned about the N roads but I've got to put some hefty milage in that day and every little helps.

David - advice taken on board. Had a few bad / costly experiences personally?
I've currently got the whole Rouen - Le Mans stetch marked out as most hazardous w.r.t. French plod. So much so that as a countermeasure I actually plan to stay within the speed limit
, painful as that may sound.
I don't have a whole lot of other route options it's N138 or the A28 if the Froggies have got around to building it. I hope I can pick up the pace again South of Le Mans.
Mr Tuscan - any encounters with French plod on your hoon?

Try some of the D roads. My favorite as of last week is the D579 from Lisieux to Gace on where it joins the N138. Theres a short bypass around Livarot about halfway that is straight out of the movies-sweeping bends,steep inclines,all in a valley to amplify the sound and if you choose the right time of day,right day in the week you'll be fine.
The sun was going down,banked clouds,loud pedal firmly down and the T350 was on rails-fairground ride! So good I turned around and did it all over again.
Early morning middle of the country is good,middle of the week is good.
Locals tip-the gendamarie never miss their lunch

Gah!!!! Shut up!!!!
Look, its bad enough the plod have cottoned onto the easy the money that speeding Brits bring and now stake out the best NR's, we dont want them staking out the best roads of the lot!!!!
The D roads are c@rp, really poorly surfaced and your TVRs will be horrible over them. Please dont use them, your suspension will not thank you. Stick to the nice flat AR and NRs, it will be much easier motoring for you.
Alternatively just stick to the North and East of France. There is no reason for you to come south of Anjou.
