We had a reasonable deal with the RAC. I think it was arranged via the TVR Car Club. Now there’s no offers at the club & the RAC want an extra 30%.

What’s everyone doing about cover ?

RAC. But every year they try it on and every year I compare a new AA policy and every year when I threaten to leave the RAC they match the AA new starter price. This has been going on for 20 years.....

I renewed with the RAC, mostly because they have no vehicle age limit and I also have a 47 year old car. I have personal cover myself and I'd suggest contacting them.

When I phoned in September to cancel renewal after a hefty rise, they wouldn't lower the price but they threw in 'at home' cover and covered me for 15 months taking me up to Dec 2023, which is equivalent to a 25% cut really, taking it back almost to the previous year's cover price. smile

RAC offered me a 27 month deal for £200, for me and my wife in any car, when I phoned up to discuss the renewal price.

I have used Britannia Rescue for many years. They have 5 different packages, priced from £30 to £99 for UK, and £142 including Europe. You can compare their prices here :

I just tried them online. They wouldn’t cover the car at all.

Been with the AA about 24 years. Have full cover. Each year (up to this year), their quote was 30-40% too high, so I had to phone & they'd reduce it.

Every time I used AA, usually with me by 45 minutes after first call. Roadside service always good.

NOTE;- AA now WONT COVER YOU FOR BREAKDOWNS ON UK TRACKDAYS! (altho oddly I think still cover European days). They reduced this cover last September, but didn't make that clear in the renewal letter they sent me. furious

If you do trackdays, check your cover!

Have a gander at this......might be suitable, It covers all my vehicles two and four wheels. Flex Plus covers more than just vehicles for £13.00/month.

Thank you. Nationwide seem to be using the AA. These conditions look to be last years AA T&C, which covered you for trackdays (now superseded by the AA last September, which have removed trackday cover, classing it as a 'Motorsport').

AA did ask me recently after an issue going home from a circuit, if I'd been doing a track day there ( I hadn't, just been watching a race series), presumably to reject cover, I didn't think anything of it at the time.

So don't know if usable now or not. Your contract is with the Nationwide, who seem to cover you, unless they refer you to the AA's most recent conditions in small print somewhere, then they don't.

Autoaid for me, the Mrs, 3 daily's, 1 classic car and 1 motorbike, all for the princely sum of £62.
Why would you go anywhere else ?

RAC included with my bank deal, all cars.
Classic Line full recovery also on the Griff, which covers the European trips and the policy that includes this was £100 cheaper.

Just looked & seen RAC won't cover cars on a trackday either, or 'where you have been immediately recovered from a race track'.

Recovery seems to be falling apart like everything else in the UK. Just before Christmas I had a tyre burst in my daily car on a pothole in a rural location. The RAC took 22 min to answer the phone, sent an RAC van who - confirmed the car couldn’t be driven nor the tyre repaired. Tried to tell me that pothole damage wasn’t covered as it was a collision! With a hole! But they would help on a grace and favour basis. Initially they wouldn’t take me to the garage near my home (I had a tyre sitting at my house and the nearest garage only had a cheap Chinese substitute). Then they arranged for an independent contractor to take me home. But when it got to yes 7 hours later I cancelled it all as a kind farmer got my wheel off and my even kinder other ‘alf came to collect me and the wheel. RAC is off the Christmas list now.

I note from their website they now have a separate classic breakdown policy available. I was with them from 2017 - 2020 but when I bought a 1975 Triumph Toledo it was too old to be eligible. I don't want to have more than one policy having 3 cars and 2 bikes. Single vehicle cover is actually quite cheap but I required personal cover.

I found this thread from moneysavingexpert in 2020 about Autoaid's 15 yr old limit:

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/62...

Did you actually have need to call them out? I won't use the term 'small print' but it was buried well into the terms and conditions about the age limit along with size restrictions. If you do a search on the meerkat for breakdown cover with a 47 year old car (but on personal cover), they don't appear, only RAC, Start and rescuemycar.
