So I’ve changed the cables for the Speedo and rev counter because the rev counter started to go crazy and would end up at 10 o’clock and get stuck there. This fix worked for all of one drive and I’m back to the same spot, has anyone else fixed this problem and if so, how?
I’m wondering if it’s a dud cable or is it the management box it attaches to or is it the dash itself???
It will reset sometimes but not always and I’m concerned I’m doing more harm than good by driving the car at the moment.

I had a similar problem but with the speedo - tacho was fine. It went on for years, replacing cables would occasionally "fix" it but always came back sooner or later.
Eventually I took the plunge and took out the Dash ECU and found that the socket for the PIC was broken in one corner. I got the socket repaired by Paul Smith and it's been good as gold ever since.

Thanks for replying MK, maybe that’s the issue then, just can’t get the electronics on this car right, fix one thing and another problem turns up, I’ll have a look at that and see if mine is damaged

No, it's the main processor of the Dash ECU from a company called MicroChip.

I’ve googled MircoChip and found an American company, is that who your referring to?

Oh how such a small crack can cause so much pain, is the ecu just behind the dials, sorry I can’t remember seeing the ecu when I pulled the dash out last time

No, the ECU is in the "Dash-ECU" under the Dashboard, on the right side in front of the A-Pillar. This Dash-ECU is connected with two ribbon cables to the Dash-Display-Unit.

Thanks Evo, I’ll have a look on the weekend and see if I can find it

Good luck at the weekend I hope you're flexible. The dash ecu is next to the throttle pedal, usually behind a bit of card covered in carpet and will have one of the door ECUs attached to it with velcro. There should be enough cable length to be able to wrestle them in front of the pedal to disconnect them. All the connectors pull out so long as you squeeze the retaining lugs in. The connectors will only go back in the correct order so you don't need to worry about getting it wrong.
Have fun!

Same spot as when I connected the new cables, yeap it’s a painful spot to get too but I’ll give it a go and see what I find

May be best to just remove the dash pod whole and send up to Paul smith along with the cables to check and repair as required. Paul is very reasonable on cost and fast turn around.
PS give him a ring first for free advice from the man who did the original diags !

So this is the box in question, does anyone sell second hand ones or does it have to be sent for repair?
