new owner questions - '97 Cerbera
Discussion
I recently bought a 1997 Cerbera 4.2 and about to have it shipped to me. I have not seen the car in person yet, but I have a few questions...
1. The previous owner replaced the factory Cerbera badge on the boot with a Cerbera 4.5 badge, even though the car is a 4.2L. Dealership told me the previous owner had a wild theory that the engines were the same. Anyway, I find it a bit embarrassing to have a car with the wrong badge on it. Does anyone know of a source to get a replacement Cerbera badge? Since it's a button, I am assuming I can replace this easily from the boot?
2. Can someone please help explain the method to gain access with a dead battery? Feel free to PM me and/or I can give you a call. I am in the USA but I do have international calling (I added that just for TVR stuff, haha). For proof that I own the car, I can email you my Bill of Sale from the dealership, or I can mention which dealership it is and they can verify that I bought the car. I am having the car shipped over here, so I'm guessing there's a good chance the battery could die during the import process. Yikes.

Congrats on your new car! You’ll stand out from the crowd over there in a TVR that’s for sure… we’re expecting quite a few will be going stateside.
If it’s not shipped already leave the bonnet catch open and you should familiarise yourself with how to get in with a flat battery, I’ve pm’d you some tips as you don’t get a key like with normal cars.
It’s well worth getting the engine and outriggers checked by an expert before shipping, these will be much cheaper and easier to do here. Most other things are DIYable if you’re handy with the spanner’s. Get an account with www.partsfortvrs.com. They have some Cerbera badges and may have more types of you email them. Failing that eBay uk normally has some breakers yard cars - contact the vendors they may sell you just a badge.
Bizarrely the pervious owner may be right, many 4.2’s have a 4.5 bottom end. The induction and fuel rails however are always different (I doubt anyone in the states would know the difference)!
Good luck

The car had a chassis removal and re-coating so all that is good, and it's at TVR Power right now having some work done on the engine so I should be good for a while. A few other issues are being fixed as well. Definitely doing a lot right now before it comes over here. I'm just waiting for the maintenance to be done and then we will be ready to start the shipping next month. Can't wait! I wish it was here already...
