Tesco 99 RON

Just found out that my local Tesco sells 99 RON Super Unleaded!

Has anyone else seen this? What are your thoughs on using such a fuel?

None of the Tesco in my area are selling it

I usually fill the Cerb with Optimax, but I do also use my local Tesco for their 99 Octane Super unleaded.
I've been using it now for a couple of months and she seems to like it!

I've been using this for a while now, it's about 500 metres from where I live!

I can't say that I've noticed a difference from optimax at all.

I have, on ocassion, put normal 95 RON in the Cerb and there is a definate lack of something, especially at the top end.

Until someone tells me why I shouldn't use the 99 stuff, the Cerb runs great on it, and I also put it in my Mini (Where there is a noticeable upsurge in 'something').

Have started using Tesco 99 and can say so far it is no difference to Optimax in performance, shall keep going until told otherwise!!!

None of my tesco`s near me seem to do super unleaded, let alone 99 RON. I live near Basildon in essex, if anyone could tell me if there is a Tesco near me selling it i'll be using it too.

The Lakeside Tesco's has it.

How much is it compared to optimax?

Didnt some 'petrol buff' mention that the likes of Tescos/Sainsburys buy their fuel from the market ie same sources as texaco/shell/bp etc?

If thats the case, could this 99RON be Optimax in diguise? Just a thought.

Any chemical analysts here care to contribute?

Lakeside apparently had it for sale at 92p though that was a couple of days ago now. Given current crude oil prices, wouldn't be surprised if it's changed now.

Still cheaper than Optimax and Ultimate

99.9 at the nearest I've seen it which is in Ashy-de-la-Zouch (about 40 miles away).

Good news for you both do your monthly shop at Bedworth Tesco's and fill the FFG up as they have it there!

You could also pop into phil's for a cuppa on the way home as he just around the corner.

That said I bet that the Tesco's on the site of the new stadium in Coventry will have it too...

Wouldn't dream of leaving the car in Bedworth!!!! It's still to far away to fill up and so is Cov to be fair.
The WMids meet is due on the Sunday so I don't know why Alan didn't just change the venue - at least it's something different and not very far away.
See you down there (it's on the Saturday as well).

I agree with you over the change in venue for the West Midlands meet, all the same if I do make it down there I will try and drag some of the rest ...mad John, Howard, although their cerbs are in at Power at the moment....hopefully see you there.

We are trialling 99 Octane Super unleaded petrol, at the following stores (at the moment) and will roll out if successful.

Unique to Tesco this grade is now available in 12 stores around the South East.

It has a very high octane content and will benefit high performance vehicles.

Yes I have been using the 99 ROn from the Crawley Tescos for a month or two now and I too havent seen any difference to optimax in terms of performance? But isnt Optimax 98 RON rather than 99, so cant be the same stuff, Tescos stuff suggests a slightly better quality??

Anyone in the know would like to shed some light on this?

The original info for Optimax said it was 98.6RON or higher.
