I've got a 2002 tuscan with dark blue carpets and I've noticed that there are a few spots that have faded with the sun. The carpets themselves are in really good condition and I don't really want to replace them so was wondering if anyone has had any experience of DIY dyeing or painting theirs.
I've done a search and there are a few threads that show some really good results but unfortunately the links to the sites for materials no longer work.
So if anyone has any experience or tips on what to use it would be really appreciated.
Thanks.

If like my Tuscan, its only a few small spots, I bought a shoe polish and carefully toothbrushed in small amounts to the affected areas.

You're right it is only a few spots and not that noticeable really. I've read about a few people using Dylon material dye and another who used fabric spray paint. I like the sound of the fabric spray paint but unfortunately the link to the site doesn't work anymore.

You need some of this stuff from here. Many of us have used it. Sprayed all of my Navy Blue carpets last year, took 2 days of masking the piping and spraying - 2 coats with 30-45 mins in between. Very, very pleased with the results. Carpets will feel a little rough to the touch afterwards. Think I managed to do all mine and floor mats (3 coats) with 5 cans. Way way cheaper than a whole complete carpet set.

I will try and post some before/after pics later.

That stuff looks good, I imagine an aerosol would be easier than dye and a brush. Unfortunately they're out of stock in navy blue but at least I know where to get it from now, thanks.

This stuff looks like it might be worth a try https://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/fabricoat-fabric...
Regal blue looks like quite a close match.

Although I didn't specifically take any 'proper' before and after pics, you get the idea from the ones I did take. Look at the transmission tunnel and the where the seat belt restraint had been, the drivers side was similar. Gives you an idea on how well it came up. Also, although not a very good shot but compare the left speaker hole to when the speaker was re-fitted.

A massive improvement. And a job I actually quite enjoyed, as you get to see immediate results.

Your thread is the one that put the idea in my head. You look to have done a really nice job. Unfortunately the link to where you got the paint from no longer works and I can't find any available anywhere.

Had a search on the internet and like yourself cannot find anyone who stocks the paint i used. There are a few sites on ebay but all with very limited stock
and colours.
Company must have gone bust and whatever stock they had is now on sale through various outlets on ebay.

To finalise this thread, (finally got Trev out this week). This is how mine ended up after the carpet spray/dye. This was done around a year ago and still looks top notch. Although I can't comment on where to purchase the stuff any more, this is what I used on mine.

Wow, looks like new from a factory, great!

However, With regard to the traces of glue that have penetrated through parts of my carpet to the top, your results are better than the TVR factory standard! smile

Any idea on a colour match for "prussian" blue?

Of course though, as with all jobs, it's never ending. As due to the colour of the carpets (now looking so good), this now really shows up the faded red piping, along the edges, especially around the rear section. You don't notice around the mats so much, being deeper down in the car.

Not sure what to do about these, as I can't dye these, as it would bleed too much on the fabric of the carpet, and my hand is not steady enough to paint with a brush..! scratchchin If anyone has tips of colouring of the piping, I would be pleased to hear.. ears

Perhaps the reason why mine looked soo good in the pics, was partly down to having the seats re-coloured by a professional upholster whist they were out.
This does make the whole interior 'pop' now, thought I might as well whilst they were out of the car, and money v.well spent.

Must say, I've spent a lot of time on my car over the past year, as well as a paint work correction, very pleased with all the results.

I think you ought to be able to restore the piping a bit like you’ve done with the carpets, but in reverse.

Mask off the carpet and spray the piping with leather or vinyl spray of the correct colour.

When I wanted to change the colour of the white stitching on my Elise seats, I used a soft/broad tipped felt pen. If you used paint, wouldn't there be a danger of it cracking after a while?

Good luck.
