RE: starmist's TVR Griffith 500
Discussion
Hi Starmist,
Not posted yet on the website, but have been reading many posts mainly on tvr v8 subjects with great interest.
Was interseted to come across the info page on your car. I'm running a '92 Lichfield Range Rover with a TVR 500 engine conversion. One of maybe a dozen or so with this spec. Since owning this car have added a Mark Adams chip and an ACT cf triple throttle/plenum + trumpet set up with Lucas 20 afm, K&N af and Duplex timing chain. At the mo running standard Lucas injectors, Kent 200 cam + high rev hydraulic lifters for mainly low end torque/performance.
Am looking at changing the standard fuel pressure regulator to an adjustable one with guage with the idea of running higher than the stock pressure of 36psi, nearer to 40-42 to improve spray pattern + performance. Have you made any mods in this area or have any recommendations. At some stage will be looking to go for the uprated bosch injectors.
Also recently been having quite bad carbon fouling of plugs, again have you had any experiences like this.
Would be good to hear about any other mods or upgrades you've made on this set up or would recommend avoiding.
cheers
andrzej

not starmist but...
you can't run fuel fressure that high. it'll cause the injectors to jam. from memory, you go up 3-4psi and thats it. and even that will affect the spray pattern. i believe the pressure goes up to 32psi max (don't quote me on that!)
the best way is to go to webbers straight off. saves one re-map, which makes the injectors effectively cheaper anyway. if you see what i mean!
the injectors have a better pattern as well as more fuel delivery, so will help with torque and power. we got around 10-15bhp on 300bhp. they will also run off the std ecu without modification. just remap.
