I don't have much time to get the seal changed, so I'm considering paying someone to do this job

Can it be done in situ, or does the diff have to come out

Does something like this exist? If not how to you undo the seal retainer?

Seal is just a push in, Paul, so it levers out.
That flange is for adjusting the bearing loading.
The DRIVE Flange pops out with a lever too, once the driveshaft is unbolted.
So the only issue is whether there is enough room to swing the levers... can't help you with that as I did mine with the diff out of the chassis.
Sorry to hear of your woes.
Rik

Seal is a 52x10x12 double lip part number on mine was 0576 044076

Edited to clarify flanges!

I looked at doing this at the weekend. I decided not to because once the cv to diff flange bolts have been undone, there is nowhere to swing the driveshaft out of the way. The chassis tubes stop it going far enough to clear the diff flange without removing the driveshaft completely I presume. Also, the chassis limits some good leverage points.

Mine is only weeping a little, so I'll probably wait until I replace the rear wishbones, which is on my list for the autumn/winter jobs.

Even with the drive shaft removed, the diff flange is trapped by the chassis tubes

Very sad
