(yet another) tyre question

I've found a small split in the side wall one one of the front tyres, as I understand it this can not be fixed, so i need to get some new fronts.
At the moment I've got Avon ZZ1's all round which seem very hard wearing. Would it be OK to fix T1-R's on just the front, or would it make the car a little too tail happy?
(I did try searching, but can't find anything about the ZZ1)

Not sure about the ZZ1's, but advice given recently at one of the Dealers is that the Goodyear Eagle F1's offer a good compromise between wear and performance (they are now standard fit on the current TVR's). I've heard that the Toyo's are a little too soft and wear out quickly.

ZZ1s have been dis-continued and replaced by the ZZ3.
IMHO these are a bloody good tyre and will be high on my list when I come to replace mine later this year.

I'd have thought the reverse would be the case actually (slightly increased understeer if anything)

I don't understand any of this, but what i'm thinking (bad move - i know) is...
if the tyres were of the same type, then the new ones would grip best (the front), so a small amount of oversteer at first, then nothing?!?
now... i think the ZZ1's (the back) are quite hard (they certainly haven't been wearing down very quickly) so they are probably not that grippy.
so would putting something grippy on the front cause an inbalance (front sticks, back doesn't) or would it be ok.

perhaps the ZZ3's would be best, as they are probably quite similar.

Why don't you put your hand in your pocket and buy 4 decent tyres?

Something like the Toyo's.

Prices ain't that bad honest , £280 all round from camskill .

BTW ZZ1's are infamous for being scary awful tyres and I admire your bravery for running them on a TVR!

can i just ask though, how bad are the ZZ1? they were on the car when i got it so i don't really have anything to compare to

I had ZZ1's on a cavalier GSI and IMO they were the worst tyres ever.Ditched them in the end and put F1's on it.The difference was remarkable!!!

Fred, just get a set of Bridgestone RE050A's. They're ZR/Y double marked and also are assymetric - to top it off, they're the same tyres used on the Ferrari Enzo and our Craig (Cerber450) has been running them on his NOS cerbera for a while, he's been through a shite-load of brands and tracks his car quite regularly and has found the RE050A's exceptional (I guess thats why Ferrari dumped Pirelli for these Bridestones).
