DAB radio revelation
Discussion
I've given up with DAB, use Bluetooth from my phone to Pioneer headunit. ALEXA works, so voice control navigation with Google maps and Spotify .. Plus I can open and close gate and garage doors by voice control.
PS And before someone says it ... I haven't got a wife called Alexa

There's a slightly used one on the Bay...

ETA: I bought a £20 Chinese head unit for the Chimaera. Has Bluetooth so I can take calls, and listen to Spotify or BBC Sounds, etc. Also gives the voice navigation over the car speakers if I'm using a navigation app on the phone. It's all I need.

Yes, you can link the phone to it but for me what's good about it is that it has it's own phone holder that slides out. Plus, you can connect the phone by cable to the USB socket on the front so it stays charged. It's your own phone that displays the satnav info so I'm presuming that you can use GoogleMaps, Waze, etc. SPH-20DAB is the latest version and has the DAB function as well as Bluetooth though I'll agree it will be rarely used as the car has its own built-in soundtrack. It comes with a little mic so you can make calls hands-free.....if you shout.
This is all from stuff on the internet as I'm trying to get hold of one so maybe one of the people who have it might add to this. Apparently, the Pioneer Smart Sync app that it's designed to be used with is fairly useless for some.

Which, apart from the phone holder, my ebay £20 Chinese head unit does all of.
Never saw the point of an expensive sound system in a TVR.
Good on the long journeys. I'm quite tempted to swap my 15 year old JVC unit for a current phone linked big screen system for sat navNever saw the point of an expensive sound system in a TVR.
Installed one of these Pioneer units two years ago and found the screen size on my phone a little on the small side.
Did a bit of research and ordered a Galaxy TAB A8 with LTE
Found a magnet that could be positioned within the phone cradle (so still allowing retraction of it) to secure the tablet - end result I have all the functionality I want / need, a quickly removeable tablet and the ability for a really sleek appearance when tablet is detached

It would give you something to listen to when your head is stuck under the dash or when your fuel gauge reads empty Never saw the point of an expensive sound system in a TVR.
PS Provided your electrics are working
I've been looking at these, primarily as it give somewhere for the sat nav screen - I don't want a screen suction mount. My issue is the DAB aerial. I have a Tuscan S so it has the Pioneer DAB aerial built in but I think it is in the boot, linked from the head unit via a proprietary connector (which also connects the CD changer - remember them??) . How has anyone put the DAB aerial in? I'd like to avoid a screen mount if possible.

The boot stinger aerial on my 2006 Tuscan Convertible was NOT DAB , I got a DAB "cable" aerial installed in the dash , but I'm not a fan , prefer to use my mobile phone Gassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
