I'd be interest if anyone knows of an auto TVR model, preferably with fixed hardtop, or one readily converted to that spec.

Anything with the Rover V8 should be pretty easy to have done, plenty of compatible autoboxes around.

You'd need to get a Chim or Griff and fit an Ashcroft uprated ZF 4 to it, plus Compushift.

All remarkably simple.

Can get a TVR Tasmin coupe with an autobox I believe.

Indeed. Although once you have fitted both a hardtop and an old autobox and paired it with a Pinto engine, I'm not entirely sure the few remaining TVR qualities are all postive.

It isn't a case of fitting a hardtop, the Tasmin referred to is a fixed head coupe. A very few were made with an automatic gearbox, the only one I know of which is for sale is an early 280i in Switzerland I think and the seller wants £20k for it.

If you can manage without the hardtop for the time being, there's a 1988 automatic 280i on sale for only £7950. Very low mileage, and with power steering. And it has aircon, so if you did fit a hardtop later, it wouldn't be too hot.

Depending on how big your chequebook is, the above car fits the bill.

That particular car is in our local TVRCC group has been very well maintained by the current owner who actually bought it from an ex-TVR factory employee.

I have the manual version of the same 280i DH ....400 chassis, SEAC interior car. It is nothing like the trailing arm car that was the 'Tasmin or 280i' that proceeded it. Every home should have one. A@
