Just perusing some old pages on hot start issue and I came across his name - not seen him post for a while. Is he still here? Under a new name?

No reason for asking, other than I remember him being quite a regular poster a while back.

Fair enough - I suspect quite a few have departed the PH shores of late.

You'll regret it and miss it when it's gone, you cannot beat a forum format for the retrieval of previous info, seen this happen on other forums.

Facebook is useless for searches unlike PH. Problem is every man and his dog seems to want a facebook group so the TVR world has become highly fragmented accordingly.

Daz the plumber (for that is his name):
Still owns a Chimaera 500 (and an MGBV8).
Still lives near me.
Still talks for Europe.
Still is rude about Europe.
Still is somewhat to the right of Attila the Hun politically speaking.
Still can always get something done cheaper somewhere else.
Still can always get something bought cheaper somewhere else.
Still manages not to turn up for track days, or on the one occasion he does, he goes to the wrong track. whistle

Last time i saw him on Facebook he was picking a fight with Dom, owner of TVR Power.

this. I miss the posts from people actually doing new and exciting things to their cars. maybe there's nothing new and exciting left to do.

I am at that point now. I have changed engines twice, decatted it, Clive Y, turbocharged it, sold the Clive Y, installed an Emerald ECU (thanks Joolz), mapped it, remapped it, bigger brakes, better dampers, roll hoop, Steve Edwards roof, Tuscan seats, sorted out the cooling (thanks Mat Smith, and for so much more that you have done, guiding me through the minefields over 9 years), loads of wheels and tyres......and now all I can think of is to put the cats back in because decatted is not the way to go any more. And sell it.

Three things I did learn:
1. You can spend a lot of money modifying the car, only to find that the limiting factor all along was the driver.
2. The gains from adding more power are always less than you thought they were going to be, in terms both of enjoyment and extra performance.
3. The best thing about TVRs is the friends you make along the way.

Agreed on the FB front but PH is pretty terrible too, it used to have a forum search facility which was very good but that was dropped by Haymarket Media. I don't think CarGurus would ever invest in reinstating this. PH Google search is mediocre at best

?? It's still there, in the upper right corner, white font on blue bar.

Yes but it's just a Google search which is crap compare to the Pistonheads search facility that used to be available.

Tut Tut, Google search is not a forum search facility. PH search was fantastic at doing multiple 'and' or 'or' word searches in specific forums and had filters that allowed people to pick username lock to ensure the search only returned answers by specific people
