I want to put a super charger on my LS7 Cerbera but have been told my quaife diff won’t hold up to the power, about 750 I hope, does anyone know of any other diffs that would fit?
Apparently there’s not a lot of room for anything with a much bigger casing.

I'd be interested to know what they think is the limiting factor in your case. I guess it's either heat or torque, but if you are't changing the tyres then you'll be grip limited anyway. Presumably you'll have trahnsmission cooling anyway at those levels.

Apparently the torque will destroy the existing one, shame really cos it’s brand new.
I’m putting bigger wheels on, maybe 295 or 305, made possible with a big arch kit from Austria.
Don’t think the gearbox needs cooling or anything, it’s rated to well over the target of 750bhp
Will have to do the half shafts though but these are available off the shelf

How much boost will ls7 pistons handle? They're a bit on the weak spectrum and 11:1 c/r. JE make some nice drop in forgings for n/a use that are better then the stock pistons. Still the same high CR though. You could cam that and get nearish to your HP target without forced induction. You won't get the torque hit though from boost.

An LS7 can go down to 9:1 CR but that's it unless you find big chambered heads from the aftermarket and I've never seen any. So your best bet would be some custom made bowled pistons with a thick top ring land if you want boost.

As for the diff, it'll be fine as I doubt you'll hook up all that power instantly.

There are some NA big cam builds that make 700hp from the LS7. Would probably be easier on the diff.

Watching some of the American mod shows the popular option over there seems to be a Ford. I think it is a 9" diff, seems to handle as much as you want.

Have a word with Topcats Racing. They designed and installed a diff cooler set up for mine and had no problems since.

Presumably he asked it because there's a john sumner who used to race in the tasmin series, not sure if it's the same one though ..

I think I've seen that done before using the drain plug and refill plug on a 6 speed ZR1 Getrag box. Worked well.

You'll need fatter and stickier tyres then that. My friends 335's spin at every gearchange until 5th and he's using low boost turbo's and the car's an RX3.

It's a fair comment. Mac. I had a pop at you a while back when you had boosted your car to almost 600 bhp and rarely drove it anywhere.
My bad for completely failing to understand that it was up to the owner what he did with his car, and your right to develop the perfect car because that was what floated your boat. And it was pretty near perfect. I rightly got it i the neck for that comment at the time.
You then did some European touring in it and loved the experience, if I remember correctly, before moving on to a Vantage.

Mine was a serious question this time, because with an LS7 already in the Cerbera, supercharging would make power that would be difficult to use meaningfully on the public road, and I wondered what race series allowed such non-standard cars. The race series(es) I am aware of tend to have BHP/tonne restrictions to even up the competition, or are bound by GT4/GT3 etc rules.

To answer your question, I don't race because I can't afford to. I should be retired, but am still working to support 3 generations of my family while the grandchildren are young. But I have always done track days in my turbo Chimaera in order to enjoy its 395 bhp.
