Hi all,

I’ve just been let down by a local car paint shop who have had my Griffith in for a full re-spray since the end of June, only to find out today that they haven’t even begun working on it. I’m now on the hunt for a reputable paint shop in the Portsmouth or Hampshire area.

Does anyone have any recommendations of paint shops, experienced with TVRs, in the south coast/Hampshire area?

I’d appreciate any help or experiences from our community.

Thanks, G

Not a TVR, and not exactly in your area, however I had a really good experience with Claremont Coachworks painting my Sirocco. (I realise this is like somebody asking for recommendations for a v8 estate and somebody saying, 'what about an MX5'. But anyway...)

http://www.claremontcoachworks.co.uk/

They are in Walton-on-Thames, so about an hours drive for you (which was the same for me coming from central London.)

I sent them photographs and the paint code and they were able to then quote over the phone/email, so only required the trip to drop off/collect.

I was extremely impressed with the work they did. Super professional in dealing with them and the work is indistinguishable from the factory paint.

So not exactly what you're after, but an option if nothing better comes along.

ETA: And extremely reasonable prices. Way below what VW quoted and less than other quotes I got for other recommended body shops. (They weren't the absolute cheapest, but I went with them based on other recommendations on forums.)

Hi - Check out Andy House Body Repairs in Longmoor Road, Liphook. He does a lot of work with TVRs having, I believe, worked closely with APM automotive and Fernhurst TVR in the past. He has extensive experience with repairing and painting fibreglass, which is a big plus. You might have to wait a few weeks as he was pretty busy when I used him for a small paint job on my Chimaera last year.
Don’t think he has a website, but a search on PH or google will track him down.

When I owned a Griffith which got damaged I had an excellent repair/paint job done at Classic Restore in Eastleigh, however their website says they’re not currently taking on new work because they’re very busy http://www.classicrestore.co.uk/

I'd recommend Graham at Classic Restore as well.

Worth a 'phone call perhaps?

Not Hampshire but worth travelling to in Windrush Paint Works in Witney.

They did my Cerbera perfectly and specialise in fibreglass and especially TVR.

Well worth the drive up the A34.

Old Bones Fabrications in Weyhill has a dedicated paint booth and a very able painter. Lovely work.

I've been recommended Andy House in Liphook by David Batty. In his words, there is no one else I would use.
I trust David Batty.

Not used Andy myself yet, but all my conversations with him have been very positive and planning to use him.
Location is 38 Longmoor Rd, Liphook GU30 7NY
I can PM you Andy's number if you need it. I think their website looks down at the moment, but there was a significant TVR presence on it when I looked a month or so ago.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations. Since Liphook isn’t too far from me, I think I’ll give Andy House a try first.

HiAsAKite, if you’re happy to PM me Andy’s phone number that would be great, thanks. thumbup
